Third NFDIxCS Plenary Meeting in Göttingen
From 19–21 February 2024, the NFDIxCS consortium convenes in Göttingen for its third plenary meeting to advance the collaborative development of a research data infrastructure for and with computer science.
Description
The third plenary meeting of the NFDIxCS consortium takes place from 19–21 February 2024 at the premises of the Gesellschaft für wissenschaftliche Datenverarbeitung mbH Göttingen (GWDG). Around 40 consortium members gather to strengthen cooperation and coordinate the next steps in building a sustainable research data infrastructure for computer science within the framework of the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI).
At the centre of the meeting is the continued development of the Research Data Management Container (RDMC), designed to enable FAIR-compliant research data management. Discussions address architectural foundations, metadata standards, storage solutions, publication workflows, and standardisation processes, while also considering legal and ethical dimensions. The consortium’s work is organised across 18 task areas, reflecting the structural breadth of the overall project.
In addition to status updates and strategic planning, interactive formats such as a persona workshop allow participants to reflect on the needs of different stakeholder groups—including students, CIOs, librarians, and data analysts—and to align services accordingly. Dedicated working groups further examine interdependencies between task areas and explore cooperation with other NFDI consortia and committees.
The meeting setting at GWDG’s Computing Center Göttingen provides an inspiring environment for focused exchange and collaborative planning, reinforcing the consortium’s commitment to developing research data services not only for, but together with, the diverse sub-disciplines of computer science.
