The 8th NFDIxCS Plenary Meeting in Dresden

How can NFDIxCS further develop its services for the computer science community? This question brought the consortium together for the 8th NFDIxCS Plenary Meeting at TU Dresden on September 22nd and 23rd, 2026, held alongside the INFORMATIK 2026 festival.

Over two days, participants exchanged insights into current work across the consortium and discussed the next steps for its services.

Reproducibility, Metadata and Integration

The program covered reproducibility, software categorisation, metadata, integration and more. These sessions provided an opportunity to discuss different aspects of research data management and their role within the NFDIxCS infrastructure.

Further presentations addressed data repositories for high-performance computing and the Research Data Catalog for Models and Event Logs, offering insights into work on services for specific research contexts.

Learning from Community Requests

The plenary also explored what the consortium can learn from requests submitted to the NFDIxCS Helpdesk. These discussions connected ongoing service development with the questions and needs raised by the community.

Another session revisited the NFDIxCS whitepaper on artificial intelligence in research data management, bringing its findings back into the consortium’s discussions.

Exchange Across the Consortium

The meeting created space to share perspectives across Task Areas and discuss the next steps for NFDIxCS services. Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the discussions.

A special thank you goes to the presenters: Ulrike Lucke, Jan Bernoth, Jan Sass, Fabian Huch, Angelika Kaplan, Patrick Brunner, Gereon Rahnfeld, Meike Ullrich, Rick Lutzens and Martin Reger.
