Patrick Brunner elected spokesperson of the NFDI Section ELSA

Patrick Brunner from NFDIxCS has been elected as the new spokesperson of the NFDI Section Ethical, Legal and Social Aspects (ELSA). Neelam Vishen from Base4NFDI will serve as the section’s new co-spokesperson.

On 17 September 2026, the members of the NFDI Section Ethical, Legal and Social Aspects (ELSA) elected a new leadership team. Patrick Brunner from NFDIxCS will take on the role of spokesperson, while Neelam Vishen from Base4NFDI was elected co-spokesperson.

The ELSA Section addresses ethical, legal and social questions relevant to the activities of the German National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI). Many of these issues affect several or even all NFDI consortia, including data protection, intellectual property rights, research ethics and societal participation in research data. By connecting consortia and expert communities across disciplines, the section provides a forum for exchanging experiences and developing joint approaches. Its work contributes to practical solutions, guidelines and statements on current issues concerning research data and research data infrastructures.

NFDIxCS congratulates Patrick Brunner and Neelam Vishen on their election and wishes them every success in their new roles.
