NFDIXCS Hackathon at KIT Karlsruhe: Sharing Knowledge, Building Innovation

We explored advancements in NFDIxCS and the Research Data Management Container (RDMC). The idea of this event is to work practically on topics concerning the architecture and prototyping of the RDMC and its execution environment. The overarching issues of this hackathon were the Execution Environment, metadata, and Versioning Information included in the manifest file, and Security and Privacy aspects regarding personalized research data.
The agenda was divided into different formats to engage the participants. The event started with reports of the current state of different NFDIxCS task areas. After that, there was a workshop on user stories for the reusable execution environment. At the end of the first day was a working group dealing with topics included in the manifest file. On the second day, we split into two groups. One was working on the prototype of the RDMC, and the other was working on the data representation of the manifest file.
The results are a good input for the different task areas to work further on their concrete topics and to have a more solid communication platform to work together. The complexity of the consortium's goal needs further workshops and hackathons to get closer. We are looking forward to the next event.
