SUMMARY:11th Soiree: NFDIxCS in conversation with the data competence cente
 rs DKZ.2R and QUADRIGA
DESCRIPTION:Excellent, reproducible research requires broadly established r
esearch data literacy and open, long-term support infrastructures. This mis
sion drives not only the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) and,
with it, NFDIxCS, but also the 11 nationwide data literacy centers.\n\nWe w
ill be speaking with two of them – the Berlin-Brandenburg (QUADRIGA) and Rh
ine-Ruhr (DKZ.2R) Data Competence Centers – at the next NFDIxCS Soiree. We
want to know what measures and offerings the two DKZ researchers use to sup
port the development and improvement of their individual data-related compe
tencies, what differences exist between them and also with the NFDI, and ho
w we can strengthen synergies for greater data literacy and FAIR research d
ata management.\n\nWe are very much looking forward to two keynote presenta
tions followed by a discussion with: Prof. Vivien Petras, Director of the Q
UADRIGA Learning Centers and Professor of Information Retrieval at the Inst
itute for Library and Information Science at HU Berlin. Alicia Janz, Senior
Coordinator of DKZ.2R and Scientific Officer at Forschungszentrum Jülich M
oderator: Mpho Mathelemuse (Education & Society Advisor at GI and Project S
taff Member at QUADRIGA and Civic Data Lab)\n\nPlease note: The Soiree will
be held in German.\n\nJoin via Zoom: https://meetgi.zoom.us/j/68171013194?

cy centers in Germany funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technolog
y, and Space (formerly BMBF) for a period of three years. The goal is to su
pport early-career researchers in developing their data and methodological
skills and to promote holistic data literacy that combines high-performance
computing, machine learning, and research data management competencies.\n\
nThe QUADRIGA Data Competence Center creates meeting places for society, po
litics, and administration to collect, process, use, and analyze data in an
increasingly digitized world, while providing researchers at all career st
ages with resources for confident data handling. To this end, it brings tog
ether the four disciplines of Digital Humanities, Public Administration, Co
mputer Science, and Information Science around the data types of text, tabl
es, and moving images at the Berlin-Brandenburg research hub.
